Bio: Prof. Dongare received his Bachelors degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Govt. College of Engineering Pune (COEP) in 2001, followed by his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2004 and 2008, respectively. He carried out postdoctoral research through the National Research Council (NRC) Research Associateship Award from the US Army Research Office, and as a senior Research Associate at North Carolina State University before joining the University of Connecticut as an Assistant Professor in August 2012.

Bio: Dr. Mishra obtained his Master’s degree in Physics from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, India in 2013 followed by a PhD in Computational Materials Science from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2019. He joined CMMG as a postdoctoral researcher in the Summer 2019. His current research involves investigating the links between atomic scale microstructure and the atomic scale behavior of multiphase metallic materials under dynamic loading environments and to use machine learning algorithms to improve/develop interatomic potentials for multiphase metallic materials.

Bio: Sumit Suresh received his Bachelors degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee in 2012 and then his Masters degree in Process Engineering in 2015 from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Sumit joined CMMG as a graduate student (Ph.D. program) in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at UCONN in the Fall of 2015. His current research focuses on the modeling of the impact processes during cold spray deposition of Al powders using the quasi-coarse-grained dynamics method.

Bio: Sergey Galitskiy received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Physics from South Federal University (Russia) in 2009 and 2011, respectively. After working in the University of Kassel (Germany) as a Research Assistant from 2013 to 2016, Sergey joined CMMG as a graduate student (PhD program) in the Department of Material Science and Engineering at UCONN in fall 2016. His current research focuses on modeling of laser induced melting, shock deformation and failure of metallic microstructures using hybrid atomistic-continuum and mesoscale-continuum approaches.

Ke joined CMMG as a graduate student (PhD program) in Department of Material science and Engineering at UCONN in Fall 2018. His current research focuses on the understanding of the role of nanoscale interfaces on the deformation and failure response under dynamic loading conditions at the atomic scales.

Bio: Shayani Parida received her Bachlelor’s degree in Materials Science from Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Bangalore (India) in 2018 and joined CMMG as a graduate student (Ph. D.) in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at UCONN in fall 2018. Her current research focuses primarily on atomic scale modeling of energetics, mechanisms and kinetics of intercalation and de-intercalation reactions in bulk layered materials to design/discover layered (2D) material microstructures as alternatives to graphite and Li ions .
